Taxes

Taxes and taxation are one of the most talked about issues in any economic discussion. How exactly do taxes influence our economy? Those that believe that cutting taxes unfairly benefits the wealthy in our society, since the rich pay the most taxes they benefit the most from tax cuts. Others claim that reducing taxes leads to increased economic growth, which benefits all. Generally, the higher the tax rate, the less productive people are and the more time they spend trying to evade paying taxes, thus reducing the total income from taxes. On the other hand lowering taxes increases productivity, and although the tax rate might be low, it is still possible, even likely, that the government will collect more overall in tax payments than if the tax rates were higher. This is a principle to keep in mind whenever discussing raising or lowering taxes.
